If you have experienced repeated unwanted memories or nightmares related to a traumatic experience from the past or you think you may have PTSD, you may be eligible to participate in an 8-week research study at McLean Hospital. We are testing an investigational use of the medication riluzole, which is approved for the treatment of other disorders, but not PTSD.
Some of what’s involved:
➢ 8 visits to McLean Hospital (1 weekly visit for 8 weeks)
➢ Psychiatric interviews, medical exams, and blood draws
➢ Brain scanning using magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy
➢ 6 weeks of treatment with the medication riluzole, provided at no cost
Some of our requirements to participate:
➢ Adults with PTSD between the ages of 18 and 65
➢ Able to read and speak English fluently
➢ No pacemakers, aneurysm clips, or other non-removable metallic objects in the body
Participants will be paid up to $450 for their time
